… Beginnings …
When one recalls beginnings, this was one of my first. A nurtured moment, a deep rooted experience. It moved me deeply, the expansive landscape it allowed for my own research practice. Though at the time I didn’t have the language to describe it’s impact. Everything takes time doesn’t it. The small beginnings that at first go unnoticed, but over time they unfold. Flipping you upwards, downwards, sideways and round about. ’The Maybe’ a collaborative project between Cornelia Parker and Tilda Swinton. For seven days eight hours a day Tilda Swinton lay silently in a glass box. A living, breathing, silent being lying quietly. The temporality of senses are deeply rooted, suspended as glasses sit lying in wait. A conversation between ‘mortality and time’. The dependency on each other. The weight of it, the lightness too as they sit they sit side by side. A cyclical rhythm that jutters and become unruly if they are separated from each other.
